John Wride

John Wride - New Brunswick
CPCA Honourary Life Member 2017

John Wride, was a long serving member of the RCMP and for over 35 years was involved with both the New Brunswick Police Curling Association and the Nova Scotia Police Curling Association. John’s health issues prevented him from curling in his last few years but stayed active as a member of the association by serving as Secretary of the NBPCA.

John resigned his position with the association in January of 2017 when his health took a further decline. In his letter of resignation John wrote “….I have been involved for 35 years with police curling …….it is the camaraderie and all that goes with it that I cherish the most.  My wish for the Association is that there is a continued effort to recruit a new generation and build for the future”. These words speak volumes for John’s character, showing that he had a sincere and abiding interest in the welfare of the association.  At our 2017 National Championship in Fredericton, NB John was awarded an Honourary Life Time Membership by the Canadian Police Curling Association.
